Book I'm Currently Reading: The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe
I like to watch Romantic Comedies/Chick Flicks when either I am depressed or sick. I don’t know why but they are most comforting to me so here are the top ten movies that I like to watch. It’s actually changed over the years…if you’d asked me 10 years ago what they were I’m sure the list would be very different. Also I picked from my own collection so there isn’t anything on the list that I don’t own.
Before I start I’m going to say that I’m leaving out The Notebook, which is probably the ultimate girl movie since Dirty Dancing. While I love The Notebook I just don’t watch it when I’m down because I end up just crying all over myself through the last 15 or 20 minutes of the movie and probably a couple times before that.
Here they are in no particular order
Fever Pitch – I can’t really explain why I love this movie so much. I’m not a huge Jimmy Fallon fan or anything but I do like Drew Barrymore. I pretty much like everything Drew is in with the exception of that world poker movie…I don’t know what it’s called but it was pretty boring. I don’t even care about baseball but I just love this movie. There are so many good lines like “You love the red sox but have they ever loved you back?” I also think this is one of those stories in which the girl ends up with a guy that she never saw coming.
Legally
Blonde – I have pretty much loved this movie since the first time I saw
it. I was working at blockbuster when it came out, and I could get the
movies a week before they were released to the public. I don’t know if
they did this so that we could talk about whether they were good or not
but I wasn’t complaining. I bought it on VHS as Previously Reviewed
because that was back in the day that I didn’t own a DVD player.* This is
one of those movies that I have watched back to back. It also is what made
me really like Reese Witherspoon (well I think maybe Cruel Intentions
helped). It just has the right amount of comedy to make me feel better
about myself. Plus there were a few lines that I really liked in it like
when she is talking about getting to Harvard and she says “What like it’s
hard?” I should mention here that I don’t like the second one as much and
the bend and flip scene kind of makes me cringe.
America’s
Sweethearts – This has Julia Roberts, John Cusack and flash back scenes.
What more could you ask for? Plus they’re flash back scenes of Julia
Roberts in a fat suit which is hard to imagine.
Enchanted
– I can’t really begin to describe why I like this movie so much but there
is one scene where I love Giselle’s dress. It’s the first dress that she
makes out of his curtains. I also like all the songs and Patrick Dempsy is
in it. This is one of those movies that even though I own I will watch it
when it’s on cable as well as the DVD. I also usually bring it on
vacations.
Made
of Honor – I haven’t decided why I like this one so much yet since it’s
newly added. I realize it’s another Patrick Dempsy movie and the first
half of the movie I am like You are idiot because he has this beautiful
girl that clearly was in love with him already.
Runaway
Bride – I relate to Julia in this movie. My mom always says that about me
to. That is why I like this movie plus the majority of my favorite girly
movies use to star Julia Roberts. Not so much anymore obviously but this
one does still live on in my top ten favorite.
Never
Been Kissed – More flashback scenes! Plus it’s so funny and David
Arquette is in it, he’s married to
Courtney Cox who plays Monica on Friends, who happens to be my TV
doppelganger* .
You’ve
Got Mail – This is another movie that has been on my list for quite some
time. Actually in my house Tom Hanks is considered possibly one of the
best stars along with Michael J. Fox…no really. I think Tom Hanks and Meg
Ryan have excellent chemistry with each other and it totally makes the
movie worth watching five billion times.
Twilight
– I know this probably isn’t considered a romantic comedy but possibly a
dramady…whatever it is a chick flick. I love this movie so much that I have
now seen it enough to quote it or say the lines before they happen while
watching. And confession I absolutely hated the baseball scene in the
book. I was cringing at the thought of having to watch it on the movie but
it turns out that movie did a really good job with it. Also about 15 minutes in to the movie
when I first saw it I was afraid it was going to be terrible but all of
sudden I lost track of time and have loved it ever since. So that is why
it makes it’s way on to this list.
The
Wedding Planner – A long time ago there were a few lines in this movie
that always got to me. One of them was when she thought she just wasn’t
enough and then Mathew Mcconwhatever tells her that she is. Then the other
one was have you ever loved someone but the timeing was off…way off.
Actually to this day that line still gets me.
*Which side note my brother and I seriously had a conversation with my niece about how “we didn’t have DVDs back when we were little, and we had to record movies off the TV…and we didn’t even have CDs! We had walkmans and tapes!”. Seriously I dated myself with my niece I swore that would never happen!
*Actually I have two of these as Felicity Porter is also my TV doppelganger. Also Friends happens to be something that I watch when I’m feeling down, it never fails to make me laugh.
I don't know if I can be bothered to hand write my entries anymore. I mean I have my lap top! With Microsoft Word! I can type 75+ words a minute! But I will finish you. I mean I am almost done. No point in leaving you hanging..what with only a few pages left. I don't know why I haven't been writing..oh wait yeah..school. So maybe from now on I should make an effort to write every day until I am done and then I will switch to my lap top. I don't think that will take very long...
I am done with summer school and now summer stretches before me. I don't know what to do with myself. It's like my brain is still on "going and going" mode. I feel like I should be doing something or that I'm forgetting to do something.
But here is list of things that I could possibly do:
- Knock out at least half my to-read books that are in my bookcase so that I can buy more like Bad Girls Don't Die, I don't know why but this book looks simply fascinating to me. Or go the library!
- I can watch every single Disney movie I own with the exception of the Christmas ones because I don't think I can watch Christmas themed things in the summer. I will become Disneyfied...and I could possibly blog about this experience.
- I can clear out my Google Reader which is seriously backlogged.
- I can finish the complete set of I Love Lucy
- I can finally watch season 4 of Lost...all in one day! Trust me I'll do it. I'll become a hermit that day and not talk to anyone.
- And finally I am going to go to Washington for a month! I LOVE VACATIONS
Ok so, so far today I have woken up at 7:30 am so that I can take my last exam...on a Saturday. I mean who does that? Plans exams on Saturday? Are they masochistic? Because I certaintly didn't enjoy being there. I mean no one was up like I was. I got to school in 20 minutes or so, that's like a world record. Usually I have to deal with traffic! But I was up early enough to get breakfast at Mcdonalds! I never get breakfast there mostly because either I was a.) working, b.) at school or c.) and probably the most likely answer, sleeping!. As I was saying I love breakfast there specifically the Egg McMuffin plus I was craving a coke from a soda fountain like you wouldn't believe.
So I guess..stayed tuned for the rest of the day you never know what might happen other then the fact that I'll probably pass out from exhaustion and sleep the whole day.
Love,
Christa
- I'm sick...ever since I went back to school I've been getting sick almost every two-three months....it's like my immune system hates me. Before school I only got sick once. My chest hurts and I have this terrible cough that keeps me up all night. I can't get out of bed.
- I took my niece to see The Hannah Montana Movie on Saturday, sick btw. I didn't care that I was sick because I wanted to see the movie and have some one on one time with my niece. And I was pleasantly surprised.
- I've been watching I Love Lucy on DVD.
- Zack got me the GQ with Zac Efron on the cover because I'm to sick to go get it myself. He apparently was embarrassed about buying it until I told him that GQ stands for Gentleman's Quarterly but I mean he has a point. How many girls do you think ran to the store to buy this magazine?
- I've been reading The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King which at first I had a lot of trouble getting in to but I now am finding it delightful.
- I'm almost done with the semester but I have to go to summer school so no need to get excited. Then I have to do a correspondence class but the good part is that I get to do it from the comfort of my Grandma's house in Washington! YAY!
- I wish I had the DVR in my bedroom so that I could watch the five episodes of Ghost Whisperer I have plus Supernatural, Dollhouse and Gossip Girl. P.S. Fringe is sooooooooooooooooo good. Harper's Island while not super good TV still addicting to me because it's amazingly cheesy and predictable and unfortunatley I like al that in a mini series/movie.
I think God has his reasons and that he basically has a plan for everyone. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason to and I just have to have faith that things will work out and that I'll find my place in the world. That in that place I will find happiness.
I've been having a tough time lately, just a lot of blah and things annoying me. So here are things that I do appreciate in life or that make it ok for me to have to deal with the blah because sometimes honestly I feel like giving up.
- Amazon packages
- Happy hour with my mom
- Addison
- Having people that will listen to me vent
- Kelly Clarkson's All I Ever Wanted CD (let me tell you it's getting a lot of play time in my car and I love the lyrics)
- I Love Lucy on DVD
- Photography
- Lexulous on Facebook
- Getting B's on my Exams
- Being able to take my niece to see the Hannah Montana Movie on Saturday
- Happy Meals from McDonalds
- New Pink Ear buds for my ipod (my other ones broke which was a sad day indeed)
- My possessed lap top (the fan is making angry noises)
This year both of my calenders have good pictures for the month of April
The weather is always nice, at least it usually is here.
Easter is usually in April, although sometimes it is in March.
But usually it is in April.
My birthday is in April (Easter is usually right after my birthday or as in the case of two years ago on my birthday, let's just say I got a lot of Easter baskets for my birthday that year)
My best friend got married in April and we always go to dinner in the
restaurant that is in the place where they got married in.
Her daughter's birthday is in April.
So is her mom's.
So basically I get a lot of cake!
I used the word usually a lot in this entry.
I had to do this in Facebook so I'll do it here to!
1. A lot of times I’d rather be in Washington then here.
2. I buy DVDs like they’re going out of style…I have over 500 DVDs. I’m kind of embarrassed on how much TV on DVD I have so we’ll just leave it at that.
3. I still buy books even though I have a ton at home that I haven’t read.
4. Summer told me once that this saying fit me “I like my money where I can see it…in my closet” this is true because I love to buy clothes…especially hoodies…hoodies are my love.
5. Summer’s my best friend..more like my sister. I don’t think I could live without her.
6. I don’t really care to buy shoes though because I have a high arch so a lot of shoes hurt my feet.
7. During the summer I drive barefoot a lot.
8. I can be pretty argumentative if I want to…in fact I’m probably in my element when I am debating.
9. People think I’m shy, quiet and meek. I am none of those things except maybe quiet. But I speak my mind when I want to.
10. However I seem pretty independent but I can be pretty dependent on the people in my life.
11. I am not the person I was like 10 years ago maybe even 5 years ago. I’ve learned a lot and have become a stronger person because of it.
12. I love when it rains.
13. My favorite desert is a brownie with vanilla ice cream.
14. I named my rabbit Oliver Queen after a character on Smallville…although I think he was character
long before that. I originally was going to name him Winchester after
Dean and Sam Winchester on Supernatural but Oliver was more fitting.
15. I am not a morning person. It would be great if I could find a job that didn’t start until after 9 am.
16. I am always cold.
17. When I was little I use to love to swim because we had a pool in our back yard. I was like a fish and now I hate to swim.
18. I’ve only been in love once. I keep looking for it again.
19. I look like Kristen Stewart in the movie Twilight or so everyone says!
20. I have twin sense with my cousin Jennie…we think a lot alike.
21. I get migraines monthly and headaches sometimes daily. I also have TMJ.
22. I want to travel all over Europe some day especially Ireland, England and Sweden. I'm like 100% Swedish because my mom was born there.
23. I wasn't, I was born in Tucson and have lived here all my life.
24. I love the Harry Potter series. I read them all more then a few times.
25. I am not always patient about things and I can be pretty difficult but I'm a real nice girl.
I came across this fun meme at this blog (Hey Lady! Whatcha
Readin’?), which is a great blog by the way. So what I had to do was leave
a comment on her blog for her to give me a random letter that I would have to
come up with a list of 10 things I love that start with it.
So I was given the letter D, which I think is a pretty decent letter. However for some reason I keep thinking Dancing which is weird because I don’t really like to dance. Unless I’m alone in my room and I can turn up Green Day’s Holiday really loud…then I love to dance around like an idiot…because of course no one can see me.
- Number one would have to be my Dad. I am daddy’s little girl…well I’m daddy’s only girl. I got stuck with two older brothers, which don’t get me wrong are great to have around on occasion.
- Disney related things and/or Disneyland which I just decided to put in one thing rather then make it separate from each other. I grew up with Disney, I even had the Disney channel back when you had to pay for it. Well rather my parents paid for it because I was like 5.
- The
character Dean Winchester on Supernatural,
which ok is kind of cheating because it’s really Jensen Ackles that I
like, BUT I do like the character Dean as well. He makes me laugh
especially in the Eye of the Tiger Video. Which again is Jensen but who cares?
Sadly you can't embed it because of the CW or WB which ever, I don't know.
3.5 I also like the character Darla from Buffy/Mostly Angel as she was killed off pretty quickly in Buffy. I liked her so much that I wanted to get a cat and name her after Darla.
- I really seriously can’t leave Dairy Queen out since I visit it pretty regularly. Like seriously during the summer it’s at least once a week.
- Dr. Pepper which does that count under D? Or P..oh I don’t care I love IT, even in it's Diet form!
- I would like to say my Dell Lap Top but sometimes it really annoys me and I want to throw it at the wall BUT I don’t think I could live with out it, after all it has been with me for 7 years.
- Dusk, not the adjective but the noun which the dictionary refers to it as : the darker part of twilight especially at night.
- Dogs especially Big Happy Golden Retrievers that I hope to own one of some day. Not to mention Nikkie who sometimes I still expect to be there when I get home, sadly she is not.
- Donuts I love them especially chocolate covered sprinkled ones OR rather especially Strawberry covered ones.
- Oh
it’s 10 already that was easier then I thought it would be, although 10 is
proving to be a hard decision. So do I go with Dumbledore from Harry Potter, Sarah Dessen one of my favorite YA Authors or DVDS?!?!?! Decisions decisions..ok so I’m going to have to go
with DVDs because my collection is so overwhelming to me sometimes but I
still love it and enjoy it. Sometimes I just sit there and look at it. Sometimes I have a hard time deciding what to watch because I’m faced with too
many decisions. It’s like standing at a Baskin Robbins which use to be
known as 31 Flavors. Did I just date myself? Is it still called 31 Flavors or just Baskin Robbins? I don't know because I don't go there as much.
DONE,
Ok so if you want to do this as well just leave me a comment I will give you a letter.
